My family and I used to eat fried rice, noodles, and Char Koay Teow from hawker stalls when we are going out to the food court or old Kopitiam, especially when they were all cooked with wok hei to produce a very tasty dish. Why WOK HEY? Because the Cantonese word is spelt "Wok Hei." literally translates to "Wok Energy" or "Wok Breath". To cook with wok hei, you'll need the technique to raise the flame temperature underneath the wok to extraordinarily high levels. So this tricky to get right that make perfect the art with quick stirring. because the Cantonese chefs can do it in about two minutes and never let it become darker.
WOK HEY is a fast-casual, quick, takeaway kiosk concept inspired by Cantonese-style cooking and traditional stir-fry staples in a box that was introduced as Singapore's finest Asian stir-fry cuisine. With the title of "Singapore's Best Fried Rice", Wok Hey has earned the hearts of Singaporeans. I agree with this title because "Egg Fried Rice" is my favourite dish. Many people, including my mother, have commented on how delicious the Egg Fried Rice and Shanghai Fried Rice are. WOK HEY has over 34 locations in Singapore, and they want to expand as an international WOK HEY in Malaysia's Sunway Pyramid in mid-January 2022.
A huge yellow signboard with the yelled "WOK HEY"m easily drew us in. And the takeaway boxes are really simple in design. During the opening of the event "WOK HEY," I noticed an illustrator who can draw anything on the takeaway box. I am very happy to see my cute character on my personal WOK HEY.
There are four signature dishes of WOK HEY; Egg Fried Rice, Shanghai Fried Rice, Fresh Ramen and Udon with the choice of adding Grilled Chicken, Braised Meat or Seasoned Prawns.
All of the ingredients are neatly displayed for customers to choose their add-ons (RM1.50 only). Kale, Nai Bai, Edamame, Broccoli, Brussels Sprout, Capsicum, Asparagus, Tobiko, Sous Vide Egg, Shimeji mushroom, and Shitake mushroom are among the choices. These are then personalised for each individual, using a diverse range of high-quality components. This includes ingredients sourced from local agricultural communities and rice farmed from Japan's lush paddy fields. With each mouthful of WOK HEY deliciousness, more than 2,000 unique combinations of high quality, affordable, and fresh meals are created, appealing to all Malaysian taste senses.
I choose the Egg Fried Egg with Braised Beef with Asparagus and Shimeji Mushrooms as an add-on. I loved eating it, since the WOK HEY aroma is strong. Especially when I wrapped the chili over my fried rice. I'm sure the chilli is great. We can request additional chili because it is provided free of charge.
While I was waiting for my order, I liked watching the wok master perform their stir-fry tricks. They are showcasing the flame of the dish creating a concentrated flavor and scent. This also explains why the takeaway boxes are served as quickly as possible to the kiosk's counter in order to avoid the long crowds and before the office workers need back to their office.
"WOK HEY was built on the belief that Asian stir-fry staples can become a mainstream segment in the fast-casual category globally. Having created a leading, modern and well-loved concept in Singapore, we knew this was the right time to introduce the brand to our neighbors. We spend a great deal of time and effort working on the supplies, processes, and staff training to ensure the best quality possible in Malaysia. We hope the local community would love our food as much as we do", Jake Chia, Co-founder, and Director of WOK HEY.

They strongly believe that one day, Asian stir-fry staples can become a significant mainstream segment in the fast-casual category globally. We may have started small, but it doesn’t stop us from dreaming big: To be a leading, modern and engaging Asian fast-casual foodservice brand that loves what we cook, how we serve and who we feed, and we intend to do this one wok at a time.
p/s: The Halal certification is now in progress.
My rating are 3.5 out of 5 because I don't like the fried udon only because it is very oily. But the fried ramen is very best. I wish they add more choices like fish, squids or seafood. My mother really loved the Shanghai Fried Rice.
